LOVE + ART
Love and Art can sit together beautifully. At least that is the case for artist/photographers Inez van Lamsweerde and Vinoodh Matadin. These images are from an old issue of Fantastic Man Magazine. The article is about Vinoodh but he talks about their life together, how they started and their son. It's very sweet and inspiring.Their love for their art and for each other is something to aspire to. It's sometimes a difficult thing to be with another artist; creative person, but the rewards can also be super amazing! MT ♥ AA
JUST IN AN ILLUSION
Google-ing "Optical Illusion" tonight...not really sure why? But found this image. There is someone very famous, good-looking and talented in this optical illusion. I'll give you more clues: it's a "he", he once dated Kate Moss and Winona Ryder...and appreared on 21 Jump Street. Look closely at the image for a few seconds and he will appear before your eyes! At least on the screen. Unfortuantely, it is an illusion to think otherwise.

'C' CAN ONLY EVER BE FOR 'CHANEL'
Vintage Chanel antiqued gold-tone medallion bracelet. The lines that radiate outwards around the double "C" logo; for me, makes this piece. I'm not really one for obvious brand/logos on things, but the Chanel logo in itself is iconic and simply beautiful.

PLASTIC BEACH
When Alexis (The BF) bought the Gorillaz's new album Plastic Beach, it was love at first sound!!!! Loads of guest artists on the album...Also, the "Stylo" music video is unreal and has an unexpected cameo. Check it out here: Gorillaz – Stylo (HD)

AVÉ MARIA
"Ave Maria" V Magazine #64 2010 featuring Daria Werbowy by Mario Testino. I like the simplicity of this shoot; an ode to the over-the-top personal style of Mexican film star María Félix (Picture #3). The styling by Sarajane Hoare needs special mention—it's spot on!

PRETEND YOU'RE THERE #001
Pretend you're there #001.
Every now and again I will post an image of something with the title "Pretend you're there." The idea is to do just that.

NATURAL & SPONTANEOUS
Bjork eating squid ink pasta and vintage Kate Moss with pink hair photographed by Juergen Teller. Juergen Teller captures moments. His work is natural and spontaneous; good to see in the days of over-retouched, over-styled images.

FRIENDS THAT DON'T TALK
Gama-Go's 5-inch Undertaker Deathbot; made from solid wood. I love the colors, and of course the skull-factor (another weakness of mine). I'm going to have to get myself one of these soon.
Over the last couple of years, I have acquired quite few kidrobot www.kidrobot.com toys and also some Ultraman enemies. Most of them are plastic; some glow-in-the-dark, some are transparent, some have little accessories, some open their mouths to a thousand teeth, some sip on goat's blood. I tend to lean towards my wooden toys. I am trying to see how I can create my own wooden monsters for MonsterFeelings. www.monsterfeelings.com

A SHOE BONER
I spotted these Jeremy Scott Bone Heels at Opening Ceremony the other day. Something Pebbles (Flinstone's) would wear...possibly something I would wear if they weren't $510.

POM-POM LOVE
Sonia Rykiel Fall 2010 RTW got a big nod from me. At first it was the pom-poms that drew me in...I have a weakness for all things pom-pom (in fact I am working on a necklace right now using black chain and pom-pom creatures—stay tuned...) The collection was just in tune with the easy-comfy clothing which I am drawn to; modern and vintage at the same time; oversized classic menswear, chunky, knitted cardis and great Fall colors.

MASAYO KISHI
Masayo Kishi is not only a talented, fresh-thinking stylist, but she is also a good friend. She was on my wishlist of stylist I wanted to work with when I was creating CAMOUFLAGE Magazine (I was a fan and had images she had styled in my scrapbook). Since then we have continued to work with each other on other projects. She is an amazing stylist to work with (even at the most challenging of jobs) she always comes up with the goods.

CICADAS
Lea Stein is a French Artist, and one of my inspirations. She is well known for her whimsical plastic jewelry pieces, buttons and accessories, taking on a life of their own as; animals, everyday items and people. The process of creating these plastic collectibles takes many months. Stein is often hailed as "the most notable and innovative designer of plastic jewelry of the 20th century" and she is almost 80! These Cicada brooches are so simple, and yet each has it's own unique personality. I aspire to create such masterpieces.
WITH YOUR KISS MY LIFE BEGINS
The Amazing, Androgynous, Avant-garde; David Bowie. A man that has pushed the boundaries of the status quo–looking at him was like a glimpse into the future. I am in love with his music; his voice; his style.
Two of my most favorite songs are: This is not America and Bowie's version of Johnny Mathis then Nina Simone's Wild is the Wind. The lyrics blow me away...
Wild is the Wind
Love me, love me, love me, love me, say you do.
Let me fly away with you. For my love is like the wind.
And wild is the wind. Wild is the wind.
Give me more than one caress, satisfy this hungriness.
Let the wind blow through your heart.
Oh wild is the wind, wild is the wind.
You touch me, I hear the sound of mandolins.
You kiss me. With your kiss my life begins.
You're Spring to me, all things to me.
Don't you know you're life, itself!
Like the leaf clings to the tree. Oh, my darling, cling to me.
For we're like creatures in the wind, and wild is the wind.

PLUSH, HAPPY SHAPES AND EVERYDAY ADVENTURES
mercibeaucoup's kooky collection is EXACTLY what I love about fashion. It doesn't take itself too seriously, is fearless and brings back childhood memories of plush, happy shapes and everyday adventures. If only I could have (afford) this entire collection.
mercibeaucoup is Japanese fashion brand created by the designer Eri Utsugi. mercibeaucoup is known for it's quirky design aesthetic, bold shapes, bright colors and patterns.
